Small Bedroom Adjacent to the Landing

A compact guest bedroom designed with precision, warmth, and personality. Gold geometric wallpaper, natural textures, and a refined palette work together to create a space that feels intimate, expressive, and quietly elevated.

“Small spaces thrive on thoughtful detail.”

Detail. Warmth. Balance.

As an interior designer based in Cambridge, I approached this small bedroom with a focus on creating impact through precision and personality. Because the space is compact, every element needed to be carefully considered — from furniture placement to material selection.

We chose a striking gold wallpaper with geometric lines softened by organic curves. It brings movement and warmth to the room, catching the light beautifully and adding depth without overwhelming the space. The bed, with its rattan and walnut finish, introduces natural texture and a grounded elegance that complements the metallic tones.

To complete the scheme, we selected a roman blind fabric from Larsan that ties the room together. Its subtle texture and tone echo the wallpaper’s richness while adding softness to the window treatment. The blind enhances the palette while providing refinement and privacy.

Given the room’s size, layout was key. We kept the furniture minimal but purposeful, allowing the wallpaper, lighting, and soft furnishings to take centre stage. The result is a bedroom that feels curated and calm — a quiet retreat that reflects the client’s personality while harmonising with the design language of the adjacent landing.
