As part of a full-house renovation in Shelford, Cambridge, this entrance hallway was designed to balance durability, functionality, and refined material cohesion — creating a space that performs effortlessly while maintaining a strong visual identity.
The design transforms a high-traffic area into a composed and practical environment, where every element is carefully integrated and tailored to the architecture.

Through bespoke joinery and considered material selection, the hallway was transformed into a highly functional and visually cohesive entrance space.
A custom storage solution, crafted in Sottsass veneer (Ettore Sottsass Archives, Eden Anglo Veneers), forms the centrepiece — combining integrated bench seating with concealed storage. The design balances practicality with a refined material expression, allowing everyday use to feel intentional and composed.
Beneath the staircase, hidden storage is seamlessly incorporated within bespoke panelling, maximising functionality while maintaining a clean architectural flow. The detailing remains deliberately restrained — defined by precise lines, warm tonal variation, and a handcrafted finish that elevates the experience of entering the home.
Layered lighting enhances the materiality throughout the space, allowing soft shadows to interact with the veneer and panelling. The result is a hallway that feels both welcoming and structured — a durable, intelligently designed entryway shaped for modern living in Shelford, Cambridge.
